Animals are a part of us. Sometimes human beings and animals don’t have a good relationship. However, it is always good if we can always reconnect with animals in a friendly way. The ecosystem needs a good balance between animals and people.
I was happy to have a chance to re-connect with different kinds of animals in a safe place at Ikimono School. I didn’t know about this place until two weeks ago when my co-workers recommended this place for me. This animal area is in Jow Plaza Matsuyama on the 3rd floor. I had the opportunity to touch the animals and feed them. I couldn’t touch all of them because I was a little afraid, especially of the reptiles!
Children are very brave and I think their hearts are fearless so I felt challenged to see little children holding snakes and other reptile animals. Snakes usually don’t get a lot of attention and most people think they are dangerous. I hope I can get over my fear in future and hold a snake one day!
There are many similarities between animals and people. Animals respond to a kind touch , just like people too. So the mini zoo has instructions and pictures about how to hold the animals so that the animals don’t feel pain. The staff were also very kind enough to show us the best way to handle the very small sensitive animals.
After going to this place, my heart felt very near to nature and I could have a good feeling about being very near to animals and touch them. It was a a peaceful feeling that I had after this trip to Ikimono school. All the animals were unique in their own way. Some animals didn’t eat certain foods. Some animals could feed themselves and some animals needed to be fed. Just like human beings are all unique with their own personalities. The common point is that all the animals responded positively to a gentle, kind touch. Kindness and gentleness is a quality we all need so that we can have healthy and positive relationships with each other.
Have a good week and let’s always try to be kind to each other and the animals around us!
